Founder's Office Intern
The closest thing to being a founder without founding a company
The Role
This is not a typical internship. You will work directly with the CEO on whatever matters most to the company that week. Some weeks that's investor communications, other weeks it's customer onboarding, ops firefighting, or strategic research.
The scope is deliberately wide — the goal is to give you an unfiltered view of how an early-stage AI company is built. If you want a defined job description with a fixed set of tasks, this isn't the role. If you want to see everything, do everything, and learn fast — read on.
What You'll Do
No two weeks will look the same. Here's a representative sample:
- Strategic research: Analyze a new market segment, size the opportunity, and present a recommendation
- Investor relations: Help prepare pitch decks, data rooms, and investor updates
- Customer success: Onboard a new enterprise customer, set up their workflow, and ensure a smooth launch
- Operations: Set up internal tools, processes, and documentation as the team scales
- Hiring support: Screen resumes, coordinate interviews, and help close candidates
- Product input: Sit in on product reviews, relay customer feedback, and help prioritize the roadmap
- Partnerships: Research and initiate conversations with potential partners, accelerators, or ecosystem players
- Special projects: Whatever high-impact task doesn't have an owner yet — that's yours
Must Have
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree from a top institution (engineering, business, or liberal arts)
- Exceptionally sharp — you pick up new concepts fast and connect dots others miss
- Strong written communication — you can draft a crisp email, a clear report, or a compelling slide deck
- High ownership and initiative — you don't wait to be told what to do
- Comfortable with ambiguity and context-switching
- Reliable and responsive — when something is urgent, you show up
- Genuine interest in startups, AI, and building something from zero
Good to Have
- Previous experience at a startup, consulting firm, or VC fund
- Basic familiarity with financial modeling or unit economics
- Comfort with data tools (Excel/Sheets, SQL, or BI dashboards)
- Technical literacy — you don't need to code, but understanding how software products work helps
- Strong network or community involvement
What This Role Is NOT
- It's not a glorified assistant role — you will own outcomes, not just tasks
- It's not a rotation program — you work on what's most important, not what's scheduled
- It's not low-stakes — your work will directly impact company decisions
