Motor claim papers chased and checked

A motor claim from the roadside to a decision

A general insurer (sample)

  1. 7:40 pm A policyholder calls after a minor accident. The assistant says it is automated, notes the claim and lists the papers needed. Claims are registered the moment they happen, even after hours.
  2. Next morning The RC and licence arrive. The repair estimate does not. A reminder goes out at 10 am. Nobody has to chase papers by hand.
  3. Day 2, 11:15 am The RC is checked against the policy: registration number and owner match. The repair estimate lists parts for a different model, so it is flagged. Mismatches are caught before money is paid, not after.
  4. Day 2, 11:20 am The surveyor gets a task with the flag and a deadline. Every open claim has an owner and a due time.
  5. Day 3, 3 pm A claims handler asks whether the add-on cover pays for the headlight. The answer comes with the policy clause. Cover decisions rest on the policy wording, not on memory.
  6. Day 3, 5:30 pm The corrected estimate is approved by the handler and checked by the claims manager. Payouts always have two people behind them.
  7. Day 3, 5:45 pm The policyholder gets an update call. The assistant says it is automated and confirms the approved amount and the garage. Customers know where their claim stands without calling in.
